M-range Block (Structural Block)

Compressive strength: 7 MPa

The M-range block is designed as a solid load-bearing lightweight concrete block at a density of 850kg per cube, they are a third of the weight of conventional cement or clay bricks. Manufactured to standard masonry unit dimensions they comply with all SANS 10400-K (walling) requirements.

Lightweight Blocks are quick and easy to install reducing labour requirements, moving and storing blocks onsite. They are a great replacement for conventional bricks and blocks, helping to permanently sequester waste material and in turn supporting our local green circular economy.

Specifications:

  • M-range blocks are manufactured to standard 5,5Mpa compressive strength (7MPa and 14MPa available on request)
  • The 90mm, 140mm, and 190 mm blocks all offer a 2-hour fire rating; the 140mm and 190mm blocks offer a 2-hour load-bearing fire rating (as per Ignis Fire Testing's report – available upon request)
  • Lightweight and quick to install
  • No specialist training required onsite
  • 140mm and 190mm approved as load bearing walls in double storey dwelling.
  • NHBRC approved
  • Approved by Financial institutions
  • Excellent thermal resistance
  • Good acoustic performance
  • Less than 1% wastage onsite which can be recycled.
  • Transport savings
  • Based on local and European standards for Polystyrene Concrete*

Max block

Compressive strength: 3 MPa

Max building blocks are specifically designed as ultra-lightweight masonry units (550kg/m3 density) for infill walling to existing and new multilevel buildings where low walling weights are a prerequisite.

These blocks offer a 120-minute fire rating at far lower costs than the equivalent 120-minute fire-rated drywall option. This is the largest block we manufacture, with only 5.5 blocks per square meter. The walls are installed quickly, saving time, manpower, and costs. As with all our blocks, they are partially manufactured from recycled waste material, offering an eco-friendly alternative.

Specifications:

  • Designed as infill non-load-bearing walls
  • The 100mm, 140mm and 200mm blocks all offer a 2-hour fire rating (as per Ignis Fire Testing's report – available upon request)
  • Block densities may vary between 500kg/m3 and 600kg/m3 due to recycled polystyrene aggregate content.
  • Only 5,5 blocks per square meter makes them fast and easy to install
  • Reduced labour requirements on-site
  • No specialist training is required to install
  • No power tools are required – blocks can be cut with a traditional carpenter saw
  • Electrical and plumbing reticulation done in a fraction of the time
  • Good alternative to drywalling
  • Excellent thermal resistance
  • Good acoustic performance
  • Less than 1% wastage on-site, which can be recycled
  • Transport savings
  • NB: The 100mm Max block is not recommended as a demising wall
  • Based on local and European standards for Polystyrene Concrete*
